SALT AND HOW TO USE
Salt is the most important ingredient in creating scrumptious food.
Salt makes all flavors taste more than they are singularly. Salt synergies with our saliva, creating a three-dimensional experience in taste.
This all purpose crystal has important guidelines for optimal usage:
- Salt little and salt often. Add a dash at every step, not just in the beginning and at the end. This not only creates a well balanced flavor, it helps with the process of cooking by drawing out the water in the food.
- Salt according to taste and to diet, the measurements provided here are to be used as a guideline.
- Measurements vary due to type of salt used. I use kosher style salt for all of the recipes here. The kosher style salt has a slightly larger crystal than fine table salt. I find it easier to use because I can feel it better in my fingers. This helps me judge how much to use and the grip makes it easier to sprinkle.
- Taste you food as you go in order to achieve a proper salinity balance.
